San Diego - October 18-20, 2022

After the Padres beat the Dodgers in the NLDS, I was so excited that I had to get in on the action, so at the last minute, we bought airline a game tickets and took off on a whirlwind trip to San Diego to see the Pads play in the National League Championship Series against the Phillies!

Our rental car turned out to be a Tesla, so that was a new experience. Overall, the Tesla was a very nice car, though it took a bit to learn how everything worked.

There was a ballgame the afternoon we arrived, so as soon as we got settled, it was off to Petco. Unfortunately, the Padres lost, 2-0. Oh well, there was always tomorrow!

The next day was quite warm (the high was 92°!), but dawned beautifully clear.

We drove up to Miramar to see the new plaques for mom and dad. They are in a very nice, peaceful spot.

Then we went to Rosecrans to visit Jhan's parents.

Afterward, we tried to get lunch at Mitch's, but there was no parking and the line was too long.

By then it was blazing hot (we're not used to the heat anymore!), and our tickets were in full sun all afternoon. So I bit the bullet and sprung for tickets in the shade. Though it was spendy, I'm glad I did!

We had great seats and the Padres won 8-5! It was literally the loudest ballgame I've ever been to.

After the game, we met Ken and Terry for dinner. It was great to see them!

The next morning, we had breakfast at the Broken Yoke, and hopped out flight back to freezing cold North Carolina.
