Highlands - October 22 -24, 2024
Since Helene had closed the Blue Ridge Parkway to the north, we changed our original trip to visit Highlands instead, which dodged the worst of the storm.
We had a wonderful two days. The fall colors were amazing (though I don't have any photos because I was driving).
We stayed at the Frank Lloyd Wright-esque Skyline Lodge, which was a pleasant place to stay.
We had a nice view of the fall colors from our room.
On our first day, we just walked around town and visited Dry Falls.
We also had some wonderful meals while we were there.
We visited Franklin on the second day of the trip, and closed it out on Thursday with a hike through the old growth forest at the Biological Research Center.
