California - May 28-June 6, 2022

We finally got to California after nearly 3 years!... but not without a bit of drama.

The day before we were supposed to leave, I started having symptoms of a detached retina. We end up in the ER the morning we were supposed to fly to San Diego. The ER doctor sent me directly to an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed detached vitreous, which, though annoying, isn't an emergency like a detached retina.

We ended up leaving a day late, and missing the ballgame, but we made it to San Diego in time for my old friend Ken's 70th birthday dinner. Thanks for waiting for us!

Though we got in a day late, we still got to stay at the timeshare in Solana Beach. I never get tired of the view from the bluffs.

Sunday the 29th, we had the incredible privilege to attend Ken and Terri's wedding; many years in the making! Congrats and love to you both!

We spent a number of days just walking along the beach, but we also took a hike at Torrey Pines and walked through Del Mar,

Of course, we visited Miramar - where sadly my parent's plaque has been removed - and Rosecrans.

Then it was off to Chico, where Jhan finally got to see her family after 3 long years.

We made a trip up to Paradise to visit what's left of our property. A few before and after photos...

We took Jhan's family to New Clairvaux.

And then took a one day trip to the Sierra Foothills, where we visited Terre Rouge and Skinner.

And had dinner at Taste.

Then it was off to the airport and home!
